About Us

Pudge's was started over 50 years ago and was first located across from LaSalle University. The restaurant has been in Blue Bell for over 40 years.

The name "Pudge" came from the original owner, Frank Carbone, who was nicknamed as a child after the dog in the Betty Boop comic strip. After Pudge's death in 2000, the shop was taken over by his daughter.

Pudge's has won numerous awards over the years. 'Best of Philly' award winner, yearly winner of 'Best Cheesesteak in Montgomery County' and we hold the title of the best cheesesteak as voted by the people on "Myfoxphilly" 2 years running. Numerous celebrities visit Pudge's and consider us their favorite cheesesteak.

Pudge's uses only the best meats. Our steak meat comes from Altieri&Sons and is the highest quality on the market. Each 12 " steak comes with 14oz of meat.  This provides you with not only the best meat but also the most per sandwhich.  We do not offer "double meat" like other shops because there wouldn't be any place to put it!  Our hoagies are made with only premium meats and cheese and unlike other shops, lettuce, tomato, onion and even your choice of cheese are all included!
